My first post :)
After a short term training in Bangalore, joined Mangalore in 17th Nov 2003, with all anxiety and excitement of a fresher. Was soon allocated to a Project. Allocating me to the project, the senior PM in our dept told me that, this project is just for a training on the tool and I will be moving to a different one in 2 weeks time. Was least concerned about that statement of him then. Asked me to go and meet Anand Lonkar and said he will take care of the res. Moved into my project zone and told one of the team members that I want to meet Anand Lonkar. Calling the person sitting next to him, he said that I want to meet Anand Lonkar. Suddenly that guy got up from has seat and told 'Hi am Anand Lonkar and you have met me now. With a smile, sat back in his seat and continued with his work. Was surprised and lil confused as I was expecting someone senior and also senior kind of a person..was slowly settling down in the project and it felt nice to me as all team members were almost of my age. They used to have so much of fun in spite of their busy and tight schedules. Anand used to be the trigger for all that and used be full of fun and laughter. But he was quite serious with me. Asked me to the gap an analysis for some requirements and gave me the FRS, even after his friend telling him not to give some high level stuff like that to me. The only thing I knew asked me to about the FRS at that time was that it was in excel format. Believe me, am not joking. He asked me to search the FRS and note down details which are not clear or not given. Did something and gave him the list of queries. To my shock he sent that onsite without changing anything in that. Told him that am not sure if it’s correct. With a smile he said 'you are not expected to be prefect at this stage and mistakes are allowed. that statement made me feel better...had some training sessions there and id some POCs. Later one day had a call with our PM in Bangalore and she told me that I will be moving out to a new project. Was not very happy with that as I was comfortable with the team and the environment in the project. Did not want a change then, as was not sure about the sate in the other project. Updated Anand about what the Pm said and told him that I don’t actually leave the project now. Still don’t know why I told him that but his response made me feel that he too dint want it. He asked me to tell the PM that I want to stay back. As I used to accept things coming my way without trying for alternatives, told him that I don’t want to do it as am not confident of being some worth to this project. Sent a goodbye mail to whole team and the only one bothered to reply was Anand. He introduced me to the person in new project and I shifted to my new place..
